VISA OLYMPICS: STRUG

Wasze zdanie:
  • Some people miss a key point. She had trained and sweated and bled, (and even broke her back once), for almost her entire life with the goal of earning an individual Olympic gold medal. By taking her second vault and wrecking her ankle she gave up that lifelong goal in favor of helping her team win the TEAM gold medal. Talk about "taking one for the team"! Those "cute little girls" have constitutions of iron.
  • This vault ended her gymnastics career. You did well, Kerri. You did well.
  • She got injured on her previous jump, she could of just sat down and quit, but she CHOSE to perform the jump. This is more than gymnastics, this is the perfect example of the American ethos. She showed strength, courage, and a lot of heart. I am proud to call her one of our own!
  • she tore some ligaments, not break a bone, meaning she could still run, but it would be incredible pain.
  • so inspiring
  • i don't know about you but i would be screaming in pain as i ran towards the springboard. kerri ur awesome and badass.
  • gives me chills!
  • I remember watching this as a 6 yr old with my sisters, I didn't quite understand it, but I knew it was amazing! I wanted to be just like her.
  • I remember this too. In fact it's my first vivid Olympics memory, one of my first vivid memories in general.
  • is that the bella guy?
  • the first vault keri did she slipped and that ankle buckled and she landed badly right away everyone could tell keri was hurt as she approached the 2nd vault
  • For many Americans, the 1996 Olympics were probably the best we have ever witnessed. From the performances of our athletes to the entire atmosphere. It was one of the most goosebump inducing moments the second our athletes walked into the stadium and the crowd erupted. And the prevailing thought was everyone of them were chomping at the bit to hear the crowd chant "U-S-A" for them.
  • I watched this live. My jaw dropped and stayed dropped. One of the greatest moments I've ever seen and I think I'll ever see.
  • i love the olypics for reasons like this
  • CHILLS!
  • Holy crap she is tough!
  • I remember watching this happen. I cried my eyes out.
  • I don't care what anyone says- that is a bad bitch.
  • i always get chills when i watch this

  • this girl is awesome!!! i am soooo proud of her for doing this. she was sseriously injured but i watched the other clips and she actually did stick the landing AND won the gold! good for her
  • if u listen carefully, its not "one foot" its "come on! come on!"
  • DOesn't SEEM LIKE IT < ITS SAAD THAT only the rich who can afford trainers and plane tickets , and this and that and this and that , can ONLY BE CONSIDERED....there needs to be a program ...ONE THAT ISN'T just really cheap w. some trainer that just says there a trainer , and don't do their best cuz they could care less because of the lack of money ???? ARENT THERE ANY PROGRAMS FOR POOR KIDS WHO ARE GREAT AT THIS KIND OF STUFF , I'd really love to know !!!! I
  • One of the toughest people to ever compete in any sport bar none.
  • everything i see this i cry
  • I cry because your english is so bad. :'(
  • Beautiful commercial. She's a hero.
  • seen better...... jk very nice moment
  • GETS ME EVERY TIME T^T
  • I remember sitting in my living room and watching her do this vault... God, that was incredible. I love the Visa commercials!
  • you can do it kerri!!!!
  • I think at the time, I didn't realize how amazing this was. It's probably the most inspiring and amazing performance at any Olympics ever.
  • SICKNESS...I think the most incredible moment ever in the olympics
  • @darkkitsune haha yep!
  • @ 79dezzy - John Orozco, who competed on the US Men's Olympic gymnastic team this year, grew up in poverty in the Bronx, NY. When my wife was pre-teen, she nearly went to the Canadian Nationals, although her father was a truck driver and her mother was a seamstress. She trained at the YWCA, YMCA, and YMHA; her only downtime was taking public transit from one to the other.
  • No, makeyellowsnow is not gay, he is stating the facts. Her foot wasn't broken. Broken bones send incredibly painful signals to the brain and she would have collapsed as soon as she touched the mat. Trust me, I tore my hamstring playing football and the first thing I did was pull my knee up in order to prevent my foot from touching the ground. Basically, Broken bones = you lose control, collapse and writhe in pain. Torn muscles/ligaments = you maintain control; instinctively preventing movement.
  • man.. he has a very wise voice.. :D
  • she didn't break her foot, she tore ligaments in her foot. and she it's unclear if she tore them during the first vault or during the second. most likely a combination of both, as she was definitely limping when she got up from the first vault.
  • Go World? Fuck that. Go USA!
  • @CoDWiiPS3Gameplay Actually the injury had healed enough for him to compete, though he had to take pain dulling injections to compete.
  • As a kid I competed in all the gymnastics I could . All that I Could do in school w/ out having to have a trainer and having my parents involved because they wouldn't have cared nor been involved anyways ...Nor did they have the money for any suits or probably not even any gas to get around , but , I still competed , perfected the high jump.....became very good on the vaults , everything that was available in school , in Texas during that time . Rheumatoid Arthritis was killing me but I did it .
  • was that mary lou retton?
  • These commercials are inspiring. This one and the Derek Redmond one are probably the most inspiring.
  • @USCHoodman uh..that wasnt my point..she ran like hell up towards the spring/pad thing, then when she lands her foot is hurt again..pretty fishy if you ask me
  • @leeny11 this was her second fault. on her first she fell and twisted her ankle and was stumbling afterward. so, she did it "one footed"
