Kerri Strug - 1996 Olympics Team Optionals - Balance Beam

Wasze zdanie:
  • Wait. We still had beam shoes in 1996? What?
  • kudos to kerri for the team final vault. but her form on beam is awful...those back layouts or handsprings with bent knees, that crouched punch front, and cowboyed dismount. ugh. should have been deductions there. her jumps were good though and that strength move at :53..wow
  • Sometimes conflicted about her form, but from what I have seen, I would garner that Shannon Miller also pulls really dynamo moves but is actually sloppier on the whole.
  • Dynamo moves. I can't even.
  • Yeah, that's why we won Team Final.
  • @zaoregel1 Before... She broke her foot during that vault
  • I don't know anything about form in layouts or much at all about gymnastics really... even the worst of them look good to me because I can't do any of it! But can someone tell me if her move at 0:53 has a name? Because that one blew me away! The strength, jeez...
  • @politicallycorrect14 yeah, maybe if she had just done one back handspring and 2 layouts... seeing her do 4, with the legs bent is terrible.
  • Do NOT make fun of her moves! Gymnastics is easily the hardest sport ever! You can only downplay the skill if you think you can do better! She is fricken amazing and I bet you guys could never do what she is doing!
  • Perfect!! 3
  • @Gymnasticsluver2001 the judges care -.-
  • Different strokes for different folks. I think Kerri's legs are the prettiest thing about her- curvy, graceful and powerful. Her calves here at 0:42, for instance.
  • Agreed.. I admire how aggressively she works the series, but her form is horrid. I also remember watching this and being so sure she was going to hit her head on that second layout. Yikes.....
  • @nightswimmer99 i think ur talking about planche??
  • Tecnica feia!
  • Love it
  • Man, Keri was a strong, stout, beautiful woman. But those 90's haircuts for women were awful lol
  • She stuck the routine.
  • @Gymnastixqueen your right i can't do that. but guess what.. I DON'T REALLY CARE. and i know she was a worldwide famous gymnast who was amazing. i never said she wasn't. all i said was her layouts on beam were horrible cuz of her fricken bent legs.
  • Wow, I'd love to seea quad.
  • her confidence grew logarithmically? doesn't he mean exponentially? lol
  • @ASPaez1965 they probably do or did…
  • dats ammuurica.
  • Shut up. U could never do what she was doing so dont make fun of it jerk!
  • PERFECT
  • why are her "layouts" so awkward looking? is it because she injured herself? is this before or after the famous "one foot" vault?
  • hey dont down that comment guys. hes right: her layouts arent just bad, theyre DISGUSTING.
  • @usagymnast43 Geez chill the hell out! Anyone, whether they're a gymnast or not, can tell that her legs are extremely bent during her layouts. No matter how many times you defend it, that's POOR technique, pure and simple.
  • i agree. SCREW LAYOUTS!!! kerri is one of my favorite gymnasts <3 u rock kerri <3
  • I love this gymnast. She's my favorite. Screw layouts.
  • her legs are bent when she did her layout!!how old is she?
  • Stop trashing her I want you to get up on a four inch beam and try that
  • Hello, cowboy!
  • sure sure chalked up her crotch!! dang.
  • People here in the states still bash her in some form or another, saying she wasn't as good as Dawes, Miller or Moceanu. But other commentators during the games said she was the most powerful member of the team. Seriously, she helped carry the team when others fell or botched their routines. She finished the team comp #1 on the floor and #5 on the vault overall, and had she not hurt her ankle, she would have done well in the all around and event finals, possibly winning medals in each.
  • is that team USAs motto? at least they can DO it. if u can do a quadruple full off beam, but your legs are bent and toes are flexed and the legs are twisted together, and you ALWAYS take a few steps on your dismount, are you gonna say "at least u can DO it"?
  • wrong. sorry but wrong. because in gymnastics, the tricks you throw only count if you don't get deducted for more then theyre worth. a quad is great but with the above deductions youll get a higher score from doing a simpler dismount cleanly
  • dats amuuuurica right derr
  • Omg she is amazing! That was almost perfect!
  • shoot at least she can do it.
  • at 0:44 "we have seen her confidence grow almost logarithmically this year." Pretty sure Tim Daget needs invert that comment
  • Totally agree, her form is awful.
  • I'm going to say the difficulty awarded for performing a quad would outweigh the deduction for twisted legs. With our current system gymnasts performing shotty Amanar vaults score well above 1.5/2 twisting yurchenkos perfectly executed.
  • What are layouts? Sorry I don't know anything about gymnastics.
  • If you're capable of doing a quad, I'm going to say yes...
  • is she wearing ballet shoes
  • @zeldafreak701 Layouts are saltos (flips, you might say) when the body is in a straight line, rather than tucked (see :37). Sometimes, especially on beam, there are layout step-outs, where the gymnasts don't keep their legs together as they land. You might look at Dominique Dawes's floor routine, where her first pass is a double layout.
  • Different strokes for different folks. Kerri's legs are the prettiest thing about her, I think- curvy, powerful and graceful.
  • How did this score higher than Amanda Borden?
  • And she didn't actually land that vault on one foot, even though many said she did. She landed on both feet them immediately picked up her injured foot.
